Growing up we didnt have a lot of money, but I never really knew any different. I would save up my pennies and nickels, and when I had enough I would go to Jans Dime Store. I could spend hours in there browsing through her penny candy shelves. Jans store was right next to the market store where my mom worked. On the days that she would let me pride with her to work, I would beg my mom to let me help her with her customers. She would pass away me small jobs to do, like bagging small things, using the footing gun, and cleaning her register area. I loved spending this age with my mom and feeling grown up when I was be helpful. Sadly, on April 27, 1985, my life changed forever.
